The Jungle Top Ten: Things You Wish You Could Buy   by Patrick Eibel
With the release of Codex: Dark Eldar, Games Workshop has addressed one of the longest-suffering groups of players.  However, there are still plenty of players waiting for certain models to be produced.  Let’s take a look at the models that GW really should get off their tushes and put out:

10. Ork Flash Gitz.  Not exactly essential, and there are much better Heavy Support choices, but it would be interesting to see what GW could come up with for the guns.

Before you e-mail me, yes, I *did* see this
guy on the GW site. One guy does not a mob make

9. Dark Eldar Beastmaster and Beasts, Scourges and Grotesques.  Yes, I know that there is a second wave coming soon, but I am writing this in January 2011 and there are none on the shelves.  So there.

8. Blood Angels Stormraven.  Okay, so you can see pics of what it will look like on the Internet. I refer you to the excuse above.

7. Imperial Guard Rough Riders.  You could get the Atilla dudes, but if you want your Rough Riders to look like the rest of your Cadian (or Catachan) army, you are outta luck. Only super-annoying because you are using basic infantry models for Penal Legion, Veterans, and Command Squad guys.  For an army build on regimented sameness, this seems like an obvious omission.

Want Rough Riders? How about some 2e-era metal figs?
Only $12.25 a pop, plus tax. Are you frikkin' frakkin' kidding me?

6.  Tyranid Tyrannofex and Tervigon.  Both of these pop up on many Tyranid army lists, so their absence from production is frustrating, to say the least.  The only reason this entry is so low is that both seem to be convertible from the Carnifex kit with reasonable creativity.

5. Dark Eldar Vehicles.  The new codex gives us three new vehicles: the Razorwing, the Void Raven, and the Venom.   While all three are scheduled for release soon, that does not help those wishing to field them now.

4. Imperial Guard barrage tanks (Medusa, etc).  It took several months to get the Deathstrike and Russ variants, but GW seems to have forgotten about the Basilisk variants.

3. Tyranid Harpy, Parasite, and Shrikes.  I put all of the winged Tyranid creatures together and you could throw in winged Tyrants as well (although at least there are some Forge World options).

2. Space Wolf Thunderwolf mounts.  For forty bucks you can get Canis Wolfborn, but you wouldn’t want to make a squad using just him.

"Canis" is Latin for "dog," so OF COURSE that's his name

1. Tyranid bone swords.  Bone swords can make a Hive Tyrant a Swarmlord and make your Warriors close combat monsters.  Pity there are none to be found.

So there is my list.  The Dark Eldar you would expect to have glaring omissions after a twelve-year wait for a revision; there is no excuse for the number of Tyranid models that have yet to be produced.  It is as if an entire second wave of releases was forgotten about.  I can understand GW wanting to encourage players to be creative with conversions to make their armies distinct, but for those of us who just want to build models and get on with playing, the lack of some of these things on the list is plain ridiculous.
