The Tiger Roars

The Jungle Top Ten: Vehicles by Patrick Eibel
Hey, remember when Sixth Edition first came out and there was a general outcry predicting the death of vehicles?  Well, reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.  Some vehicles are actually just fine and dandy with the new rules.  Here then is a list of the ten best vehicles you can choose, based on point cost, effectiveness, and actual cost.

10. Sisters of Battle Exorcist.  Even though no one plays Sisters, the Exorcist is still a pretty good tank.

9. Grey Knight Nemesis Dreadknight.  The model makes me think of Sigourney Weaver killing Tyranids (errr…Xenomorphs) at the end of the Aliens movie.

8. Ork Battlewagon.  Be sure to take the deff rolla upgrade and print out the appropriate FAQ so you have all the awesomeness at your disposal.

7. Chaos Forgefiend.  Eight S8 shots is nothing to sneeze at.

Barney went bad.  Very bad.

6.  Imperial Guard Vendettas.  Flyers with twin-linked lascannons that can transport units are really good.  Now if only you could actually assemble a Vendetta from the kit you bought.

5.  Imperial Guard Leman Russ Punisher with heavy bolters in the sponsons and hull.  Just imagine the look on your opponent’s  face when you drop 29 S5 shots in a round.  Boo.  Yah.

4.  Necron Doom Scythe.  These things are just seriously annoying.

3.  Chaos Heldrake.  It’s a flying mechanical dragon.  ‘Nuff said.

2.  Land Raider (all variants).  With tankbusting a real problem for some armies, Armor Value 14 all around will help your passengers get to the fight.

1.  Necron Night Scythe.  A troop transport that is a Flyer and can actually be built from the kit you buy?  There is a reason why 'Cron Air is very popular.

As you can see by this list, some armies have plenty of good vehicles to choose from; not surprisingly, these tend to be from the newer codexes.  Eldar vehicles cost too much, Dark Eldar vehicles are too fragile, and Tyranids and Chaos Daemons don’t even get vehicles.  And before we get a ton of e-mails about a Grey Knight “Psyfleman” Dreadnought, yeah it is good, but you only get four shots and you have figure out what to use for guns.
