The Fighting Tiger Painting Guide (Simplified)
Collecting
and painting a Fighting Tigers army takes a lot of patience. While Fighting
Tigers look nice, it takes a very long time to paint each one, and it doesn't
help that since 3rd Edition, Warhammer 40K requires a lot of figures. To
alleviate this problem, I've developed the simplified paint schemes given
below. I certainly wish I had come up with this idea before I painted over
100 figures the old way. If you're developing a unique look for your army,
learn from my mistake and keep your paint scheme simple!
Here are some
examples I whipped up. These should give you a good idea of what the simplified
schemes would look like. Much easier than what you've seen so far,
huh?

Left:
Tiger of Rudra, Jatis Mahaduyana. Right: Jatis Ghuyarashtra
Of course,
these are just the basic, male Tactical troopers. Different types of Fighting
Tigers would have variations, but these are given below. Female Fighting
Tigers, of course, would have white in place of orange or mustard.
Below are some
photos. If you'd like more, you can find them here.

Left: Tigers
of Rudra, Jatis Ghuyarashtra. Right: Tigers of Rudra, Jatis
Mahaduyana
Note:
just as it is appropriate to mix old and new Space Marine figures in a
Fighting Tiger army, it's also appropriate to mix the original and simplified
versions. Perhaps you could paint Sergeants or other characters in the
original paint schemes and paint your basic troops in the simplified versions.
Or perhaps you could paint half the figures in a squad in the original
style and the other half in the simplified style. Whatever you prefer!
Finally, bear
in mind that even if you paint Fighting Tigers using these simplified schemes,
you still won't be cranking them out as fast as your friends who play Ultramarines
or Blood Angels. I'm afraid that's just the price you pay for being stripey....
