Kenton
and I are avid (American) football fans, and before the start of the 2003
season, I made him a gentleman’s wager. If Kenton’s team was to finish
the season with a better record than mine, I would write as many articles
for the Jungle as his team had finished the season with losses.
I figured at worst, I would need to write only a handful of articles (I
had high hopes for my own team).
Sadly my team, the Oakland Raiders,
had a miserable season, imploding from lack of team chemistry, collapsing
under the weight of age and accumulated injuries, and staggering to a 4-12
finish. Kenton’s Washington Redskins, on the other hand, started well but
finished terribly, with a 5-11 record.
So now I am writing eleven articles
for the Jungle as a result of my big mouth.
