From the Jungle to the Gate--Introduction
Campaign \Cam*paign"\, n. [F. campagne, It. campagna, fr. L. Campania, the level country about Naples, fr. campus field. See {Camp}, and cf. {Champaign}, {Champagne}.] (Mil.) A connected series of military operations forming a distinct stage in a war; the time during which an army keeps the field. --Wilhelm.Every few years, Games Workshop comes up with a global campaign that involves all of the armies in the 40K range. This year, the Eye of Terror campaign will determine the fate of the Cadian Gate, as well as some of the characters in the game’s lore. Our new campaign will support the GW campaign while also exploring some new concepts. While our previous campaign, Tooth and Claw, was focused on creating a narrative story, Eye of Terror: From the Jungle to the Gate will focus on a series of military actions that will have consequences in the final battle. Here are some of my ideas: 1. Each battle will feature different armies from the side of Order or Disorder. To make sure this will work, the three campaign battles will be predetermined. The winner of the first battle will then get to choose his army for the next battle. Here are the battles and combatants for the campaign: Battle 1: Orks vs Dark Eldar (1250 pts each)Originally we were going to do five battles, but decided to shorten it to three games due to the brevity of the Eye of Terror campaign. There was just no way for us to get five battles in over the two months that the campaign would take place. This campaign promises to be an exciting change of pace for the both of us. The nice thing about the variety of forces is that it allows us to include armies that don’t get much coverage on the website, such as Imperial Guard, and Eldar. As an added twist, we are going to change up armies for some of the battles (actually, I think that is because Kenton is really an Ork at heart). For a change of pace, the battles
will be written up as straight reports--"just the facts." To connect them,
we introduce some sinister new characters....
