Offensive 2: Orks
“The Lean Green Fighting Machine”: 2489

A weekend of friendly gaming is a great time to try out new army lists or “test drive” some changes to an existing force. For Counter Offensive, I have plenty of new ideas to explore. First off, after all of the work I did during “Da Year Uv Da Ork,” I have gotten the main Ork fighting force into reasonable shape. I will have 2,500 points of (mostly) painted Orks from which to choose (I also have a separate Kult of Speed army, but that is a different story…).
This list represents the bulk of my regular Ork army. Much of the army was chosen because it is not an option for the Kult of Speed (not that there is a preference, just that it made sense when dividing the figures). This accounts for the Flash Gitz, Kommandos, Gretchin Mobs, Dreadnought, and Kans. The Boarboyz are included in this list because it just doesn’t seem right to have them tag along with a mechanized force like the Kult. For the rest of the army, I have chosen to emphasize mass over mobility, so out are all the vehicles and in are all the large squads: two units of 21 Slugga Boyz and one unit of 20 Shoota Boyz will add a lot of figures. My hope is that mob size will keep me from breaking until I reach close combat. I am worried about facing any army with a lot of vehicles, as the best options I have is either the tankbusta bombs the Kommandos have or burnas, both of which need to be used up close. (How did this army do at Counter Offensive 2? Find out here) Countdown
